New PVP Season Coming Soon

PVP Designer Brian Holinka has announced that a final PVP season for the expansion is in the offing.
Clearly, that means the current Season 14 will be coming to an end soon, so avid players will likely want to pay attention and step up their game. What does this mean for PVE players, though?
The best measure for comparison is to look at PVP seasons that aligned with the last content patches of prior expansions. Season 8 started three months after the release of Icecrown Citadel and lasted for 37 weeks, up until the release of Cataclysm. Season 11 aligned with the release of Dragon Soul and lasted for 38 weeks, up to the release of Mists of Pandaria.
Season 14 started with the release of Siege of Orgrimmar, and we’re 16 weeks in. One could argue that Blizzard is throwing a final season just so that PVPers have got a new set of challenges to keep them entertained before the expansion. If we figure that the combination of Seasons 14 and 15 won’t be longer than previous PVP periods during the final raid content, then that means there’s likely another 20-22 weeks left in the overall expansion, with the better part of that being spent in Season 15.
We’re in the home stretch heading into Warlords of Draenor. Be ready for anything.
