Heroes of the Storm was playable at BlizzCon 2013 and Blizzard had 18 heroes available to be played at the convention. These aren’t all of the Heroes that will launch with the game but these are the ones they have as of right now. Let’s take a look at them, what their roles are and where they come from.

We also list out what type of hero each are. There are currently four types of heroes listed below:

• Warrior – Mostly melee characters who can soak up lots of damage while also dealing it back.
• Assassin – Your top damage dealers that can pick off enemies, but also tend to be more squishy.
• Support – Assists other characters either by healing, buffs, or other abilities
• Specialist – More specialized roles that don’t fit into the above. These include Siege and commander heroes.

Diablo

• Tyrael (Warrior) – Tyrael is formerly the Archangel of Justice and is now the Archangel of Wisdom
• Diablo (Warrior) – Diablo is the Prime Evil and Lord of Terror
• Sonya (Warrior)– Sonya is a female Barbarian
• Valla (Assassin)– Valla is a female Demon Hunter
• Naziba (Specialist) – Naziba is a male Witch Doctor

StarCraft

• Kerrigan (Assassin) – Sarah Kerrigan, Queen of Blades and Leader of the Zerg.
• Nova (Assassin)– Nova Terra, female Terran ghost working for the Terran Dominion.
• Raynor (Assassin)– Jim Raynor, former Terran marshal turned rebel.
• Tassadar (Support) – Protoss high templar responsible for destroying the Overmind in a suicide mission.
• Abathur (Specialist) – The Zerg evolution master.

WarCraft

• Stitches (Warrior) – Stitches was a level 35 elite abomination in Duskwood that many Alliance players experienced while questing in that zone
• Arthas (Warrior) – Arthas Menethil was the Crown Prince of Lordaeron who would take up the cursed runeblade Frostmourne and end up merging with the Lich King.
• Elite Tauren Chieftain (Warrior) – The drummer from the in game band based on the real band put together by Blizzard employees Mike Morhaime, Samwise Didier, Chris Sigaty, Dave Berggren, and Alan Dabiri.
• Illidan (Assassin) – Illidan Stormrage, the self proclaimed Lord of the Outland who ruled the Black Temple in Burning Crusade.
• Falstad (Assassin)  – Falstad Wildhammer, the high thane of the Wildhammer Clan and current member of the Council of Three Hammers in IronForge
• Uther (Support) – Lord Uther the Lightbringer, the first paladin of the Knights of the Silver Hand
• Malfurion (Support) – Malfurion Stormrage, the first Night Elf druid who helped successfully half the Burning Legion’s first invasion in War of the Ancients.
• Gazlowe (Specialist) – the Goblin leader in Ratchet
