Find Your Friends at the Blizzcon Meeting Stone

by - 10 years ago

Today Blizzard unveiled a new social feature coming to Blizzcon 2013, the Meeting Stone.

At prior Blizzcons there was always a place sectioned off for WoW realm meet-ups with pre-set times for the different servers to meet.  The location has changed almost every Blizzcon, but it’s always been off to a side, hidden in a corner or even tucked away on the second floor completely removed from the convention itself.  Now you won’t have to miss any of the action because this year the Meeting Stone will be front and center located between Halls B and C, right smack in the center of the convention.

Another big change this year is that the scheduling of events for the Meeting Stone is completely in the hands of the attendees.  You can use the new Meeting Stone forum to setup times and Blizzard reps will be on hand throughout the convention to block off the area for large groups, help facilitate meet-ups and start discussions.

Given the huge fan followings in Diablo and the Starcraft Pro scene I’m glad to see these changes pushing the meet-up area past just being WoW-centric.  Do you have any groups, clans, guilds or realms you want to meet-up with?  I know I’ll be looking to see if any Diablo meet-ups get scheduled.

See the full press release below.

BlizzCon is a great place to meet up with friends, guildmates, and other cohorts, and this year we’re providing you with the perfect space right on the show floor. Located between Halls B and C, The Meeting Stone is an easy and recognizable gathering point as it will literally contain a giant life-sized Meeting Stone. No more hiking upstairs to squint at each other in a well-lit room, this year you’ll be able to meet up at this central location and be just a scant few meters away from the main stage, demo areas, and other attractions.

The Blizzard Community Team and other staff members will be on-hand to interact with those summoned to the Meeting Stone (and to mitigate potential corpse camping). We’ll be putting together a schedule to reserve space and times for larger groups, to also be displayed at the event.

Please visit the new Meeting Stone forum if you’re interested in arranging a specific time for your group meetup.
