BlizzPro’s TwizzCast to Interview 4 Diablo Lead Designers Live Wednesday

by - 11 years ago

This upcoming Wednesday July 10 at 8 PM CST (9:oo Eastern, 6:00 Pacific) we have an amazing opportunity that we hope the rest of the community will join us for.

TwizzCast (Twizz and co-host DJTyrant) will be talking to 4 of the Diablo Lead Designers about the current state of the game, the upcoming console version, the future of the game and everything else in between. We expect this show to last at least an hour and while we have several of our own questions we also want to represent the community in what they want to see talked about.

The developers that will join us will be new Game Director Josh Mosquiera, Lead Console Designer Jason Bender, Senior Technical Game Designer Wyatt Cheng, and Game Designer Travis Day.

We will be starting the show at approximately 8 PM CST July 10 at http://twitch.tv/twizzcast and if you happen to miss the show we will have it available on our YouTube channel as well as available to download the audio version at TwizzCast.

We will probably take some questions from the chat, but for your best chance to have your question be seen you should either comment on this article or email us at podcast@blizzpro.com

I’d be interested to knowing what type of development process is used to build a game like Diablo 3. Scrum, Agile, Waterfall, or Other?

One other question would be what was the most difficult feature to implement in Diablo 3?

  2. Andrew Lonero says:

One question I would have would be if the console versions of D3 will be on the same servers as the pc versions and would be able to play together. Could this ever happen with any game? How might that effect game economies? And what about transfering charcters between accounts and servers?

    • Richard Heydt says:

From what has been said on the forums, it is a no. They are getting better drops with the itemization that D3 PC people have been waiting for a year. With the amount of exploits that have been made with the PC version they wouldn’t want their second flock of sheep to see those mistakes.

  3. Richard Heydt says:

Question 1: What is taking so long with the itemization patch? Don’t give the the speal about making sure it is done right since Jay Wilson said that this game would not be released until it is done. Also sounds like 90% of your staff is doing other things than working on this important patch.

Question 2: Why do you allow people to use the 3rd party websites (d3jsp, d3walmart, diabloprogress, etc) to ruin the economy of d3 when you can see the specific weapons and can track down them and ban every single account?

Question 3: Why cant you make AH items that are sold be accound bound to stop the crazy flipping that you are allowing to happen (which is against your own ToS about investment vehicles)?

  4. Pallino says:

hello, My question is about PVP, and i mean the true pvp, not brawling… they are working on it, what is it current state, and how is it different from Arena style before… thank you

  5. Lukáš Jahoda says:

    Hi,

my specific question is if we are going to see in the itemization patch or in an expansion character customization tied to paragon leveling system somehow?

    thx very much devs

    luk

  6. DiaBLOWS says:

Let me guess. They’re “discussing” things, “talking” about stuff, “theorycrafting” other things BUT NOT ACTUALLY DOING ANYTHING b/c they are going to release their console version (that will bomb) instead of FIXING THE PC version which has been complete shit since release. HEY BLIZZARD, HOW BOUT YOU DO LESS PODCASTS AND CHATS AND MORE FIXING YOUR BROKEN ITEMIZATION, WATERED-DOWN, JAY FUCKED-US, P.O.S. D3!!!

    • Eldorian says:

And yet the community will complain when Blizzard goes quiet for a while saying they’re not being transparent and not talking to the community enough.

      • DiaBLOWS says:

Fuck you and fuck Blizzard. Ever since they sold their fucking souls to Activision all they give 2 fucks about is the bottom line. The community has been ROARING since this beta version was released. They released an unfinished game that Jay FUCKYOU Wilson broke just so they can make some quarterly dollar amount. Any blue post on their official forums is an RMAH thread OR some stupid pointless who gives 2 fucks threads. They address NOTHING that pertains to ANYTHING important b/c they have 0 power to do so. They haven’t fixed any of the major problems since the game’s release (HELLO, FUCKING ITEMIZATION??!!! HELLO!!!) This game is about LOOT and most of it save .0001% is ABSOLUTE SHIT. That’s b/c of broken itemization and broken builds. They’ve again delayed fixing anything important to release this bullshit console version that NO ONE FUCKING WANTED in the 1st place.

All these faggots need to do is FIX THEIR FUCKING GAME, stop fucking talking about bullshit and using the stupid “WE’RE CONSIDERING IT, BLAH BLAH PUKE, WE’RE TALKING ABOUT IT BLAH BLAH PUKE, IT’S BEING DISCUSSED BLAH BLAH PUKE.. and start actually DOING things instead of talking about them.

How to ruin one of the best gaming franchises in US history? SELL YOUR SOUL TO CORPORATE GREED and release a broken, P.O.S. Diablo 3 series before it’s ready. Then don’t fix it and spit in the people’s faces that made you who you are today (PC gamers) and release a console version that no one wants.

FUCK YOU WYATT CHINK CHENG and FUCK YOU BLIZZARD.

PVP!. We need PVP outside of the small box! The Way PVP works in diablo 2 is excellent. DO You really want WORSE PVP, than diablo 2? . . . I thought we were trying to make a sequel that was better, not worse. In Diablo 2 we can duel anywhere in game . Dueling anywhere in game is the most fun thing about Diablo! Without that feature this game will continue to quickly fade and lose more players than it already has . . , and not have anywhere near the longevity and replayability of diablo 2. . . Please address this as D2 and now D3 are my favorite games. It would be a shame to drop the ball on the greatest game series of all time just because you guys choose not to put fun PVP like there is in D2. . . . L ; ( Plz don’t let me down , after all these years. . .

Hello, my question is about PvP system that we’re waiting for such a long time 🙂 how far are you in developing process and are you guys exciting about that? ;> i know most of you (if not everyone) is working on loot 2.0 and expansion but is PvP something what are you focus on in same priority as other things ? and how long we have to wait for something what have been promised to us FEW months after release … thanks and greetings to everyone from Poland 🙂

  11. mmmj says:

question: Can changes be made to the AH, so that items bought via the AH, becomes soul bound, making flipping impossible and less items in general flooding the market?

    thanks

During Round 1 of the “Ask the Devs” Q&A we learned that “brawling is not a replacement for Team Deathmatch or any other types of more complex PvP modes”, which also suggested, that they are exploring other “complex PvP modes”:
    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/7895009644#2
I would very much appreciate an update on the matter of “more complex PvP modes” in the works, since it’s been fourteen months and I still haven’t seen any Team Based PvP as a replacement to the Arenas or the Team DeathMatch.

  13. OneHandHigh says:

I have two extremely simple questions:

In-game Cursor. Right now, when hovered over a monster it is a narrow sword that is mostly redish-orange, with a white tip. When playing my DH, I seem to lose my cursor in big fights constantly because it blends into Fire spells so easily.

Skill points. I’m not hoping for a full skill-tree redesign, or even points at every level. But something like 5 “buff points” for reaching 60, then another “buff point” at every 10 Paragon lvl’s to be placed on skills.(With a Buff-Respec option for a LOT of gold, to change with gold inflation) Basically, I REALLY!!!!!! hate that they only way to buff my char is with gear. My favorite part of D2 was finding items AND lvling to buff my char.

There’s my two cents, any feedback would be awesome.

  14. Cyberbard says:

    What ho!¨

    Two questions:

#1: Can we expect to see any new content for the PC this year?

#2: What’s the current view, internally, on ‘self-found’? Will we see this mode? I really want it!

Thanks for answering and have a good evening!
