The Overwatch PR team has another twitter teaser today. this time in the form of an opinion about vigilante justice. Vigilante justice—is it vital in a post-Overwatch world? pic.twitter.com/CEERX43EQy — Overwatch (@PlayOverwatch) March 4, 2015 So where should we start with this little bit of information? First off, the scene pictured in the main article takes place in Japan outside in the street in front of a noodle joint. The scene described is after a botched robbery attempt at the ramen shop that was interrupted by a vigilante that is described as being a self appointed sheriff. The other important bit of information is the name of the author, Joel Morricone. Joel in this case is a guest blogger that is advocating this vigilante that looks like a sheriff. Well, guess what? Joel is supposedly the name of the Cowboy seen in a lot of the promo art for Overwatch, ...

Bring Your Friends to the Beta Test

by Crow on

Blizzard has announced plans to let folks who are currently in the Heroes Beta distribute keys to their friends. This is a great way to continue building hype for the game, though it does potentially cut into Founder’s Pack sales. Consider this, though: if Blizzard is willing to give beta participants their own free keys to hand out, as well as well as keeping up with automated invite waves to bring in players for free, maybe it feeds the narrative that Blizzard really only added the Founder’s Pack so people could contribute to the project in a crowdfunding-like manner. The game is definitely coming out no matter what, and the beta test is going to have a ton of people in it regardless, so if people want to give Blizzard some additional capital up front in order to polish the game further, is there anything wrong with that? That’s all beside the ...

Welcome to “Got Lethal?” a (hopefully) weekly feature that will try to put you on complicated, yet winnable situations. We will bring you puzzles of sorts where you are tasked with determining the best line of play, which mostly is play that will guarantee you the victory. Maybe this will help you train your pro-skills and perhaps with a bit of luck you won’t Miss Lethal ever again, or maybe the scenarios are way too fantastic to be of help on serious matches, anyway at least I hope you can have fun with them. Your Hand The Board We Need a Miracle So we’ve been laddering up with Oil rogue and we’ve had a great afternoon with a huge win streak that we’d love to keep intact. Sadly we’ve run into a different breed of Rogue, and coupled with a bunch of pretty unlikely RNG and some really bad draws ...

March 3rd Patch 6.1 Hotfixes

by pallimmanis on

Feeling a bit chilly? Then I guess it’s a good thing we’ve got the latest round of hotfixes for Patch 6.1! These are just a few points of interest from today’s changes: The Darkmoon Faire sanctuary zone (which used to just consist of the actual faire and the path leading down to it from the portal) has been expanded to cover the entire island. There will be no more killing unless it’s within the arena inside the fairgrounds during the Darkmoon Deathmatch. The developers continue to work toward making cosmetic items more shapeshifter-friendly During the Blackhand encounter in Blackrock Foundry, players should no longer take more damage than intended from falling during the transition to the second phase.  To make diminishing returns for crowd control effects more consistent and predictable, diminishing returns now have a reset window of 18 seconds. Fixed an issue where using S.E.L.F.I.E. Camera while under the effects of ...

The Draenei, the Monk and the Wardrobe is a recurring installment of World of Warcraft transmogrification tales. Join us as we eye every seam, embroidery, and color scheme down to the last button. Do not be dissuaded by the title; DMW loves all classes and races! Every hunter with a fashion sense knows it’s essential to match your pet. Especially a pet like Gara. So I rummaged through my closet in search for the perfect outfit. At the bottom of the clothes hamper I found the Burnished Mail set—a set that hadn’t been washed since the big armorkini-craze of 2011. I oiled it up (or whatever it is you do with chain mail), and put it on. As evident from the pictures below, it still fits! Head: None Shoulders: Skettis Spaulders Back: None Chest: Skettis Chestpiece Wrist: Skettis Bracer Hands: Skettis Gauntlets Waist: Netherstalker Belt Legs: Skettis Legguards Feet: Skettis ...

We’re 3 days away from PAX East and the teasing continues from the Hearthstone team. Today on their social media they presented this little picture of a plush hogger holding a plush Hearthstone with the caption “Adventure Awaits!” Along with the picture they included the text “It’s Dangerous to Go Alone!” “It’s dangerous to go alone!” #Hearthstone pic.twitter.com/SOGPtYzKlS — Hearthstone (@PlayHearthstone) March 3, 2015 This could be just a funny picture and nothing more, however, it’s likely to be a teaser of what’s coming. “Adventure Awaits!” is a pretty obvious tease toward the blackrock mountain adventure mode. “It’s Dangerous to Go Alone” could potentially be a tease toward co-op mode coming in the game. While co-op mode is a highly requested feature that even team 5 has said they are interested in, I think it’s a bit of a stretch to go there, so I wouldn’t get your hopes up ...

Blizzard announced yesterday that they’ve got some plans for the ladder system in the coming seasons, so let’s get right to it. The short, short version? For the current season they plan to adjust leagues and the starting point for new players to be in line with their stated intent, as both have drifted off the mark. For next season, MMR decay will be disabled and more matchmaking tweaks will be made in order improve the experience. As we approach Legacy of the Void, the whole system will be under the magnifying glass. Overall, the sense is that they know ladder has got some issues, and are working to get those under control to make it more functional for everyone, especially players who are just getting onto the SC2 ladder scene. Read the whole post below, and if you’ve got strong feelings on the ladder system, make yourself heard. In recent months, we’ve ...

Hunter Control Deck

by JR Cook on

Episode 52: Hunter Control Deck This week we take a stab at Control Hunter. We made some changes to the deck mid-way through the episode. The deck does alright but it’s tough in such an aggro heavy meta. But that’s to be expected the first week of the season! Overwatch Press Event Reactions

by JR Cook on

The Overwatch event in which Blizzard invited a bunch of Youtube personalities (including some pro Team Fortess 2 players) happened on Thursday and it appears they have an embargo on the information they received that will lift on Friday morning during PAX East. However, that hasn’t stopped them from being able to tell how the visit itself went and their thoughts on playing the game (without going into specifics). Probably the only bit of new information we did get is it was asked what the business model would be when the game was released and the developers responded with the same thing they did at BlizzCon, that they don’t know yet. However, in my opinion, it is likely we’ll be seeing some kind of free to play model since there is no single player campaign mode to sell. Youtububer mrmuselks posted a Reddit thread with his experiences. He’s primarily a ...

Bluepost Roundup

by Hotstreak on

Activity in the Diablo 3 world ramped up this week with some forum posts and the sudden release of the patch 2.2.0 PTR. Blizzard covered various hot topics like the delay of the new Ruins of Sescheron zone, Act 1 bounty farming, a new file system being implemented, and micro transactions being implemented in other regions. Earlier this week Blizzard released a preview blog for patch 2.2.0 that contained a peek at what’s to come with it’s release. What surprised a lot of people was the absence of the new zone that was showed at Blizzcon, Ruins of Sescheron. Blizzard has clarified it’s absence by saying that it will not be making the cut for the next patch. But fear not, it’s merely delayed and will make it into the game in the near future.  The Ruins of Sescheron will indeed be coming to Adventure Mode in a later patch, as ...

Legacy of the Void Multiplayer Update

by JR Cook on

We got another Legacy of the Void Multiplayer update to go with the one we got on December 17th. This is the second update we have now received since BlizzCon. In the last update there were talks about resource changes, and it seems that they are planning on sticking with those changes as it encourages more expansion across the map rather than just 1 or 2 bases. A new change they are looking at it slowing down the combat in multiplayer by about 40%. Right now they’re not sure if this change will end up making it or not as it will force the games to feel more dragged out. As far as units go, it looks like the HERC for Terran is now going away. It seems that Blizzard simply can’t get a decent new Terran unit as they had trouble doing the same in Heart of the Swarm. ...
