Google’s Aquisition of Twitch.tv Reportedly Finalized

by - 10 years ago

The $1 billion Twitch deal with Google appears to be a done deal.  Sources familiar with it say that Google has signed the deal.

Full details of the deal aren’t known yet, but there is speculation that the deal could be announced at GamesBeat 2014 where both companies are scheduled to be speaking.

The purchase is rumored to be through Google’s YouTube division, which would make Google the leading company for live streaming by gamers.  Recent statistics show that Twitch was responsible for 1.35% of all internet traffic in March of this year.  They have more than 50 million active users every month and 1.1 million who broadcast live each month.

As per company policy, neither Google nor Twitch are commenting on the deal at this time.
