Do Or Die: Ukrainian Player Finishes World Of Warcraft

by - 10 years ago

Game over. World of Warcraft has been “beaten”. While this isn’t the first time a player has worked their way through all available quests, it is the first time this has been accomplished since Mists of Pandaria was released.

Andrej, a 32 year-old gamer from Ukraine, has just finished all of World of Warcraft. After playing for over 17,000 hours and over 1,000 days, he completed all 2057 achievements, which included repeats of many, many dailies. He even managed some realm firsts with the help of friends.  To work his way through PvP achievements, Andrej killed over 1,4 million player characters while his own character died 42,685 times.

His main is Hiruko, a human priest.

Andrej readily admits that this much playing time required financial support and cooperation, so he traded in-game items and services for real world money.

For many of us, the first reaction is to point to Terms of Service violations, and make the obvious basement dweller jokes. There is more to this story though: Andrej’s home is Kiev, which has been the site of an ongoing, brutal and destructive civil war. In this case, escaping into the fantasy world of Azeroth likely helped ensure a sense of normalcy and survival.
