by - 10 years ago

BlizzCon 2014 has officially been confirmed by Blizzard.

The details are scant at present, but here’s what we know via the official overview page:

Where:Anaheim Convention Center, 800 West Katella Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92802
When:Friday, November 7, 2014 and Saturday, November 8, 2014, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. PT (both days)

BlizzCon is a celebration of the global player communities surrounding the Warcraft®, StarCraft®, and Diablo® universes. The eighth BlizzCon will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California on Friday, November 7 and Saturday, November 8, 2014.

In addition to serving as a gathering place for Blizzard Entertainment gaming communities, BlizzCon will offer attendees a chance to enjoy:

  • Hands-on play time with the latest versions of Blizzard Entertainment games
  • Global finals for Blizzard eSports, featuring top pro gamers from around the world
  • In-depth discussion panels with Blizzard game developers and artists
  • Competitive and casual tournaments for players to showcase their talents
  • Community contests with great prizes
  • Commemorative merchandise based on Blizzard Entertainment’s game universes
  • More activities and attractions to be announced on www.blizzcon.com

Hearthstone’s set to have a massive tournament in the future pitting the world’s best players against each other in hopes of becoming the World Hearthstone Champion. We theorized earlier in the month that this tournament would likely be held at BlizzCon. While not confirmed just yet, that assumption still holds.

EDIT: The Hearthstone World Championship has been confirmed for BlizzCon 2014, as we speculated.

There’s no word just yet on what game announcements we’ll see, but it seems safe to expect more information on Starcraft’s next expansion, Legacy of the Void.

The price of admission for BlizzCon 2014 is 200 big ones. More to come as we hear about it.
