Hotfix Patch for April 14th: GO INSANE

by - 10 years ago

The Hotfix blog has been updated once more with newly-implemented tweaks, which seem mostly involved with quality-of-life changes for past content.

April 14

Raids, Dungeons, and Scenarios

  • Siege of Orgrimmar: Blackfuse Bombling should no longer be incorrectly awarded from the Spoils of Pandaria encounter.
  • Icecrown Citadel: Resolved an issue that could prevent players from being able to loot The Lich King if NPCs dealt fatal damage to him.
  • The Eye: Added additional safeguards to the Kael’thas Sunstrider encounter to address issues that could cause him to sometimes not grant loot if he’s defeated too quickly.

Achievements

  • Insane in the Membrane: Resolved an issue where Exalted status with the various Steamwheedle Cartel factions, as well as Honored status with the Bloodsail Buccaneers faction, were not properly being credited if those reputations subsequently decreased. Players should now be able to earn this achievement if they have ever brought those five reputations to the required levels.

Out of the four changes listed here, only one of them has to do with current content, and even at that, it’s a matter of a pet not dropping from the right encounter. The Lich King and Kael’thas changes are both functionally similar changes for bosses who are routinely being farmed for their exceptional drops. But that reputation change… oh man…

Without going into too much detail about it, part of what was insane about Insane in the Membrane was the overwhelmingly high barrier presented by the Bloodsaul Buccaneers element of the grind. It’s so incredibly easy to rep up with the goblin towns via one-time quests, while the methods to get rep with the Bloodsail all depends entirely on tanking your rep with the goblins. If you’ve done all the quests for the goblins, you’ve got very few options to get that rep back. It’s not a matter of “rep up Bloodsail first” being the optimal method to get this achievement; prior to this fix, it really was pretty insane to try and do Bloodsail after getting exalted with the goblins.

So, if you’re a fan of getting weird Feats of Strength that are incrementally becoming less nail-biting loony to shoot for, hey, happy hotfix day!
